How OWL Truck handles personal data, in plain language.

This policy explains what OWL Truck collects when you use this website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. The short version: we collect what the service needs to work, we do not sell personal data, and analytics cookies are set only if you agree to them.
Who we are
OWL Truck is a marketplace for commercial trucks from suppliers in China. This website is operated under the OWL Truck brand, and we decide how the personal data described here is used. Privacy questions, and any request about your data, can be sent to owltruck@owltruck.com.
What we collect
Account details you give us: your name, email address, mobile number and country when you register, plus your password in hashed form. Listing and inquiry details: truck listings, photos and messages you submit, and messages you send to a supplier. Technical data: the pages you open, the date and time, the address of the page that referred you, your approximate country and city, your browser and device type, and a first-party visitor identifier stored in a cookie. WhatsApp contact: if you press a contact button, we record that you did so, together with the truck and supplier involved.
Cookies and analytics
A cookie holds your language choice, and another holds a visitor identifier used to count visits and remember which page brought you here. Google Analytics runs only after you press Accept analytics: in that case it sets its own cookies and receives the pages you visit, the time, your approximate location from your IP address, your device and browser, and the truck or supplier you looked at. If you press Reject, Google Analytics is not loaded, does not set cookies, and receives nothing from your visit. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the question back.
What we do not collect
We never send your name, email address, mobile number or the text of your messages to Google Analytics. The analytics event for a WhatsApp click records only which truck or supplier page was involved — never the phone number and never the message.
How we use it
To run your account and give you access to the site; to show truck listings and put you in touch with the supplier you are asking about; to keep the marketplace safe, including spam and fraud checks; to understand which pages are useful; and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Sharing
When you send an inquiry or press a WhatsApp contact button, the supplier you approached receives the contact details and the message needed to answer you, and WhatsApp processes that conversation under its own terms. Our suppliers share their own personal data with us to be listed. We also use service providers who host the site and store its data and media on our behalf. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Retention
Account records stay while your account is open and for as long as we need them to answer questions or meet legal and accounting duties. Inquiries and contact records are kept for the same period so both sides have a record of the conversation. Analytics data is kept under Google Analytics' own retention settings for the property.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to a particular use. You can also withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing this site's data. Write to owltruck@owltruck.com and we will answer within the period the law allows.
Security and changes
Passwords are stored hashed and traffic to this site is encrypted. If we change this policy we will publish the new version here and update the date above, and we will tell you about changes that affect what we do with your data.
